Together with my partner, I co-run Studio Carowe, an alternative media creative studio dedicated to translating academic research into tangible, public-facing formats. Our collaborative practice bridges scholarship, design, and DIY publishing, moving ideas from theory and archive into forms that circulate beyond the academy. Within this work, my practice focuses on digital collage, photography, and image manipulation, using layering, texture, and visual distortion to create pieces that feel lived-in, aged, and materially grounded. I work with scanned ephemera, archival imagery, photographs, and digital tools to build compositions that carry wear, history, and use, resisting the polish and neutrality often associated with academic or institutional design. My process prioritizes atmosphere and material memory, allowing images to hold complexity, contradiction, and time. Studio Carowe supports scholars, researchers, and cultural organizations in shaping complex ideas into accessible, well-crafted media without sacrificing rigor or political clarity. Recent and ongoing collaborative projects include an interactive zine in development for the Center for Skateboarding, Action Sports, and Social Change, which translates interdisciplinary research on action sports, culture, and social change into a widely shareable, puzzle-based publication.
